So very pleased and honored to see this photo in t So very pleased and honored to see this photo in the New York Times (it’s a small regional paper from a town on the east coast for those of you who are unfamiliar with it).

And thank you to @lime_light_productions for being so incredibly wonderful to work with and putting on such a lovely event
I feel like this photo requires no caption, so I’ll instead utilize the caption as an opportunity to inform that we’re off to Europe for a few weeks to visit with family. If we’re slow to respond to comm it’s because we’re busy eating papanashi.

Also - traveling to multiple countries with an almost-2-year-old should be loads of fun…but just-in-case it’s less than simple any travel hacks from veteran parent travelers would be greatly appreciated :P

Oh - and this beautiful venue was at @thepurpleorchid
A rare photo featuring the owners of RUSS LEVI PHO A rare photo featuring the owners of RUSS LEVI PHOTOGRAPHY and our adorable son (taken by the amazing @amylittlephotography).

We are Russ and Alex (a husband and wife photography team) and our very junior staff member over there is Levi. Yes - our son’s name is Levi and it’s totally perplexing because our company name is RUSS LEVI - and yet our names are Alex and Russ and our son’s name is Levi. So I want to dispel a few points of confusion that this seems to cause folks.

Most importantly - our last name isn’t Levi. So we did not name our son Levi Levi. Although that would be sort of an amazing name.

Levi is actually my middle name, and I named the company RUSS LEVI PHOTOGRAPHY almost 15 years ago in part because it was easier to find a domain compared to my actual name and it was shorter and sounded better. So when Alex and I joined forces we had to decide if we should keep the name of my company or create a new one. We decided to keep this one to avoid some confusion, but created some cuter confusion as a result of it :P
Sometimes we’re lucky enough to photograph weddi Sometimes we’re lucky enough to photograph weddings that are 20 minutes from our house. Also - our house is 20 minutes from from a lot of beautiful places. Specifically @viansasonoma in this case. This really is a spectacular place to have a wedding.
#and thank you to @orchardavenueevents for being so incredibly incredible :D
So I was walking down the street the other day and So I was walking down the street the other day and this guy leans over to me and says “hey, wasn’t sure if you were aware, but Instagram still exists”. I was stunned. I grabbed my phone and powered it up - and sure enough…Instagram! I thought to myself “self, you should post something from the gorgeous/fun/heartfelt wedding photographed at @nestldownevents this weekend”. And you know what? I listened
Ok - so the last photo I added also featured champ Ok - so the last photo I added also featured champagne, but idunno, seemed like it might be fun to try a theme.

Good timing, eh?
Sometimes couples get mired in the tyranny of wedd Sometimes couples get mired in the tyranny of wedding traditions. May I suggest a champagne sabering to break you away from the doldrums?

And thank you to @dpvweddings and @simplyelegantbydiana for being wonderful
My baby turned 1 (which I think technically makes My baby turned 1 (which I think technically makes him a toddler). It’s so wild to think what we were up to a year ago…and we had no idea idea what was in store for us…namely a very sweet, happy, and frankly adorable little boy. He’s made me happier than I ever could have imagined and his birth represents the greatest watershed moment of my life. Happy birthday - @alexandrina_owens and I love you with everything we’ve got :D
Welp, it’s finally happened, August has arrived. Welp, it’s finally happened, August has arrived. Sure, the past few months have technically been wedding season…but now we’ve really arrived at the hyperdrive portion of the season. Wish me luck, and forgive me if I’m slow to respond to stuff till November. Also, thank you to @orchardavenueevents for always doing an amazing job (much like they did on this wedding)
This weekend I shot 3 full weddings…this Monday This weekend I shot 3 full weddings…this Monday I am physically exhausted and feel pretty beat up, but I still love doing this. All the weddings were unique and beautiful and in wonderful places with lovely people. 14 years in and other than spending time with my wife and son I honestly can’t think of much I’d rather be doing.

Also, quick note, this is not a photo from any of my weddings this weekend, it’s from the amazing @candinguyen - I’m currently parked and waiting to pick up my mom from the airport and have yet to grab any of the new photos :D
I keep hearing that Instagram doesn’t like photo I keep hearing that Instagram doesn’t like photographers anymore. Well “Instagram” if that is indeed your reel name (see what I did there?), this is your opportunity to prove them wrong :P
Just in case you were wondering, our baby is still Just in case you were wondering, our baby is still very cute <3 <3 <3
The nice thing about doing your engagement session The nice thing about doing your engagement session in a place that's notoriously cold and windy is that it forces you to get closer to your SO... And then there's always that glorious windswept hair

Also - Point Reyes in the winter and spring = Scotland
I might be biased, but I think Sonoma County might I might be biased, but I think Sonoma County might be the prettiest of all the Bay Area counties - and arguably the best for photoshoots - Although I'll concede that Marin is pretty amazing as well (Sonoma doesn't have Mt. Tam or Marin Headlands or Point Reyes).

In Sonoma County we've got rolling green hills (that Windows XP background "Paradise" was taken here) with fields of wildflowers, gorgeous vineyards, epic coastlines that I think eclipse Big Sur (both in terms of accessibility and how photogenic they are), soaring old growth redwoods, the Russian River, historic towns/charming towns and all of it without much in the way crowds. Sure other Bay Area counties have some of these things, but generally not on the scale of Sonoma County.

Sure I sound like I work for the Sonoma County Tourism Board but I'm honestly super passionate about where I live.

I really do recommend it for your engagement session and of course for your wedding. It's just lovely here :)
Wedding/engagement/proposal seasons have coalesced Wedding/engagement/proposal seasons have coalesced this year into a non-stop party of pent up love, affection, commitment, celebration, and community. The great thing about being in an industry that celebrates the very most positive elements of life is that it helps remind you that even though the greater world may seem hopeless at times that happiness still persists on the personal level.

Also, just realizing that this photo doesn't particularly communicate any of that, but I already wrote this description (on my phone no less), so there's no going back now. It's also just kinda pretty which makes me feel better about the world too.
